More Trouble in Denver

March 16, 2009 · Filed Under Denver Broncos · Comment

By missing coach Josh McDaniels’ first team meeting, it seems that Denver Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler sent a clear message to the Broncos Organization. He no longer want to be a Denver Broncos. So, the question for the Broncos is now what?

This all started when the Broncos tried to Cutler to the New England Patriots for QB Matt Cassel, which that did not happen. However, Cutler was upset about the whole trade situation and now it seems like this issue cannot be resolve between the Broncos and Cutler. Although, the Broncos and Jay Cutler had a meeting on Saturday, Cutler still wants out of Denver.

The best thing for the Broncos to do is to move on and trade Cutler. Even though, Broncos players may want Jay Cutler as their quarterback, the last thing you want is a cancer in the locker room. However, since its only March, things can still change. We’ll see how the Jay Cutler and the Broncos drama will effect the rest of  team from here. But, as of right now, this situation does not look good

LT Stays with the Chargers

March 10, 2009 · Filed Under NFL, San Diego Chargers · Comment

After much speculation about the future of LaDainian Tomlinson, L.T. will remain with the San Diego Chargers. Tomlinson agreed to restructure his deal, which will give the Chargers salary cap relief. This is great news for the Chargers organization, Chargers players and Chargers fans.

There was much debate whether to restructure L.T.’s deal, trade or even release him due to the salary cap issues for the San Diego Chargers. However, Tomlinson new deal will all him to remain with the Chargers until 2011. Chargers general manager A.J. Smith said, “LT has helped us through the years on the field, now he’s helped us off the field.”

LaDainian Tomlinson said, “I love San Diego and being a part of this team with my teammates. My number-one priority was to stay here in San Diego. I truly believe this is the place that gives me the best chance to be successful and win a championship. I want to finish the job we started when I got here eight years ago. My heart has always been in San Diego. I couldn’t imagine putting on another uniform.

Now that LaDainian Tomlinson is going to stay with the San Diego Chargers, the Chargers can focus more on other possible free agents and the NFL draft. But, in terms of this LaDainian Tomlinson signing, San Diego Chargers President Dean Spanos said it best, “This is a good day for the Chargers and for Chargers fans” and he is right about that.

Owens Signs with Buffalo, Was this the Right Decision?

March 9, 2009 · Filed Under Buffalo Bills, NFL · Comment

While the Dallas Cowboys are moving into a new direction, so are the Buffalo Bills. This past Saturday, the Bills signed controversial wide-receiver, Terrell Owens. However, was this the right decision for the T.O. and the Buffalo Bills?

Terrell Owens signed a $6.5 million dollars deal with the Buffalo Bills for one year. Bills owner, Ralph Wilson said in a statement, “This is a very exciting day for the Buffalo Bills.” T.O. was glad to be with the Bills and said, “I must move on, and it’s another beginning for me.”

The Buffalo Bills have not made the playoffs since the 1999 season. Not since the Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas and Bruce Smith years, have the Buffalo Bills been a dominate team in the NFL. The AFC East division has been mostly dominated by the New England Patriots.

The Bills needs to find a way to stop this trend from continuing. Is T.O. the answer, maybe not, but this move could be a start on making the Bills a big time offensive threat. If that happens, with great defensive play, you never know what could happen in this league, just ask the Arizona Cardinals.

Does the arrival of Terrell Owens to Buffalo make the Bills a better team? On paper, yes he does, but the game is not played on paper. So, will T.O. be a distraction for the Buffalo Bills, on the field and off the field? Will T.O. cause problems for another quarterback? Hopefully for the Bills, they won’t regret this decision, only time will tell, so stay tuned.

Owens is Out of Dallas, Is the Cowboys Drama Over?

March 5, 2009 · Filed Under Dallas Cowboys, NFL · Comment

The Dallas Cowboys released wide-receiver Terrell Owens on Thursday. This was a surprising move, however, its seems that the Cowboys are ready to move in a new direction. Cowboys owner, Jerry Jones said, “We will move on now with a new team, a new attitude and into a new stadium.” But, was it the right decision for the Cowboys?

When NFL teams played against the Dallas Cowboys, they needed to game plan against T.O. Also, the Dallas Cowboys will take a $9 million dollars hit against the cap this season. But, for the players in the Cowboys locker room, the distraction of T.O. will hopefully bring the team together.

However, are the Dallas Cowboys are a better team without Terrell Owens? Only time will tell. But, for the teams in the NFC East, they are probably the most happy teams in the NFL, since they don’t have to play against him as a Dallas Cowboys.

Trouble in Denver

March 3, 2009 · Filed Under Denver Broncos, NFL · Comment

The Denver Broncos would like to forget this past weekend. First, Denver Broncos wide-receiver, Brandon Marshall was once again in trouble with the law. Brandon Marshall was arrested for disorderly conduct as a result of a fight early Sunday morning. Then, there was rumors that the Denver Broncos were going to trade their starting quarterback, Jay Culter, in an effort to get New England Patriots backup QB, Matt Cassel. However, it was not meant to be, as Cassel was sent to the Kansas City Chiefs for a second-round draft pick.

Of course, Jay Cutler was not happy. The Broncos denied the reports, but the damage is already done. This is not a good way to start off the 2009 season.  Only time will tell how the Denver Broncos drama will effect the team from here.

As for Brandon Marshall, the charges against him were dropped on Monday. The only question is whether NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will discipline him for repeated violations of the league’s personal conduct code? Hopefully, for Brandon Marshall, he will learn from this experience and move forward. Playing professional football is a privilege, but if he continues on the wrong path that privilege will no longer be an option. Stay tuned.
