Sad Day for Chargers Fans, Chargers release L.T.
After nine seasons with the San Diego Chargers, the Chargers released the best running in Chargers history, LaDainian Tomlinson. Tomlinson was going to get a $2 million roster bonus in March. However, due to Tomlinson injuries and age, it was time for the San Diego Chargers to move on. Too bad for Chargers fans who did not get to see L.T. win a Super Bowl championship with the Chargers.
Under the LaDainian Tomlinson era, the San Diego Chargers had their chances to get the Super Bowl with playoff runs in 2004 and 2006-09. But, it was not meant to be. And now, for L.T., he will never get that chance as a San Diego Chargers.
However, as Chargers fans look back at
greatness as a San Diego Chargers, his best moment was probably when he broke the NFL touchdown record against the Denver Broncos in 2006. L.T. scored 28 touchdowns that year. Another milestone for L.T., was on December 2, 2007. Tomlinson passed Walter Payton on the all time rushing touchdown list, with his 111th career rushing touchdown, against the Kansas City Chiefs. But, of course for Chargers fans, the best moments of Tomlinson career is the Chargers 13th straight victories over their rivals, the Oakland Raiders.
It will be sad to see L.T. in another uniform next year, but that is the business of the NFL. Hopefully, for LaDainian Tomlinson and the San Diego Chargers it will all work out in the end. We shall see L.T. in the NFL Hall of Fame someday, but not yet.

Is It Over Between Tomlinson and the Chargers?
It is not official and there has been no word from the San Diego Chargers organization about the future of LaDainian Tomlinson with the Chargers. However, LaDainian Tomlinson was quoted in the San Diego Union-Tribune saying,
“I’m not coming back,” Tomlinson said. “I don’t believe I’ll be back in San Diego. I’ve accepted it. I’ve spent nine years of my life here, pretty much my youth. I gave the organization everything I have. I enjoyed the community. But there is a part I won’t miss. The football part is fun. But the business part sucks. I won’t miss that.”
LaDainian Tomlinson is still under contract for two more years. But, will the Chargers pay him 5 millions dollars next year, even though is productivity has gone down? Who’s know at this point. However, it will be hard to see LaDainian Tomlinson is a different uniform. But, until things are official, anything can still happen. Hopefully, L.T. will remain with the San Diego Chargers, but only time will tell what the San Diego Chargers decide to do with LaDainian Tomlinson, so stay tuned.

Another Distraction for Chargers Prior to Loss on Sunday
You would think that the players from San Diego Chargers would have learned their lesson about not getting involved from outside distractions during the season, but you would be wrong. Prior to the San Diego Chargers game vs. the New York Jets, Chargers wide-receiver, Vincent Jackson was pulled over by the police for playing his music too loud. Jackson was then handcuffed for a brief time and had his car impounded for having expired tags. Vincent Jackson was also cited for having a suspended license.
It is hard to believe that this could happen before the biggest game of the season for the Chargers. It is hard enough for a wide-receiver during a game to be handcuffed by New York Jets cornerback, Darrelle Revis. But, to have it happen by the police before a playoff game is unacceptable. You can only hope that Vincent Jackson has will finally learn his lesson, but only time will tell.

Chargers Missed Field Goals Helped Jets to Victory
In a 2005 playoff game against the New York Jets, San Diego Chargers kicker, Nate Kaeding, had a chance to win the game in overtime. But, unfortunately for the San Diego Chargers, Nate Kadeding missed the field goal and the Jets would eventually win the game with a field goal of their own. Fast forward five years later and Nate Kaeding is still having issues kicking field goals against the New York Jets in the playoffs. Kaeding missed three field goals, which helped the New York Jets beat the Chargers, 17-14.
You got to make field goals in the playoffs. Those missed field goals are momentum changers in the playoffs. Credit to the New York Jets. They came to San Diego with an attitude to win the game and that’s what they did. The Jets defense stopped the Chargers offense and the Jets offense did enough to the win the game. Turnovers, penalties, missed field goals by the Chargers and tough defense by New York Jets kept the San Diego Chargers from moving on to the AFC Championship game.
Next year, the San Diego Charges need to focus on their run defense and need to learn to establish the run to be a dominate team. These are things that the Chargers did not do in this playoff game against the Jets. As for the New York Jets, they move on the face the Colts in the AFC Championship game next week. With a tough defense and strong offensive play, the Jets could shocked the world again. We shall see, so stay tuned.

Chargers End Redskins Long Season
This has been a long and disappointing season for the Washington Redskins. And, the San Diego Chargers helped put the Redskins out of their misery, by coming back and the beating the Redskins, 23-20 with 35 seconds left in the game. The Redskins had their chances to win, but when your 4-12, you find a way to lose and they did again on Sunday.
As for the San Diego Chargers, they just found another way to win. The Chargers sat out their starters by the 2nd quarter and the Chargers backups did a great job of coming back and winning. The San Diego Chargers won their 11 straight game and are now looking forward to the playoffs.
Unfortunately for the Washington Redskins, they have to look forward to next year, with possibly new players and coaches. We will see if the 2010 Redskins can do better than they did this past season. But, the San Diego Chargers do not have to wait to September to play again. The Chargers will be in the playoffs. The only question for the Chargers is can they keep their momentum going? We shall see.

42-17 Christmas Blow Out for the Chargers
Friday’s Christmas Day game for the San Diego Chargers and the Tennessee Titans was a big game for both teams. The Chargers wanted to get a first-round bye in the playoffs and the second seed in the AFC. But, standing in their way was the Tennessee Titans, who were trying to get into the playoffs themselves. Unfortunately for the Titans, Philip Rivers was on fire and lead the Chargers to victory. The Chargers beat the Titans 42-17.
Chargers quarterback, Philip Rivers, threw for 264-yards and two touchdown passes. Rivers lead the Chargers up and down the field against a tough Tennessee Titans defense. Rivers leadership also lead to six touchdowns for the Chargers. Two of those touchdowns were scored by LaDainian Tomlinson and other three were scored by Darren Sproles. Of course, three turnovers by Titans quarterback, Vince Young, did not help the Titans at all.
If the Tennessee Titans are going to be in the playoffs next year, Vince Young needs to play better than he did in this game. He cannot turn the ball over because it can be very costly and it was for the Titans in this game. The key for the Titans when they play against a high scoring offense, like the Chargers, is that they need to keep that offense off the field. And, by using running back, Chris Johnson, they can do it. But, even though Chris Johnson had 142-yards rushing, the Titans did not control the clock. They left too much time for Philip Rivers and the Chargers offense to do what they do best, scoring touchdowns.
For the San Diego Chargers, the earned the second seed in the AFC and more important, a first-round bye. The Chargers are on fire right now. They have now won 10 straight game and are looking for more against Washington next week and in the playoffs. But, not everything is great for the San Diego Chargers. On defense, the Chargers pass rush needs to be better. They don’t have to sack the opposing quarterback all the time, but they do need to put pressure on the QB to make him turn the over, like they did to Vince Young on Friday. Lets see if the Chargers can keep the winning streak going.

Emotional Win for the Chargers
Sunday’s game between the San Diego Chargers and the Cincinnati Bengals was an important game with big playoff implications. The winner would get one step closer to winning the second seed in the AFC’s playoff race and earn a first-round bye in the playoffs as well. However, the game was overshadowed by the death of Cincinnati Bengals wide-receiver, Chris Henry.
Henry died on Thursday due to falling out of the back of a pickup truck during what the police are describing a domestic depute between Henry and his fiancée. As the Bengals tried to deal with Henry’s death, they did their best to beat the Chargers. In the 2nd quarter, Cincinnati Bengals wide-receiver, Chad Ochocinco, caught a 49-yard touchdown pass from quarterback, Carson Palmer. Then, Chad got on his knees and pointed to the sky to show his respects to Chris Henry. Chad became emotional on the bench soon after.
Both the Chargers and Bengals exchanged leads. The Bengals would then tie the game up at 24-24 late in the 4th quarter. But, in the end, the San Diego Chargers would win the game on a 52-yard field goal by Nate Kaeding with 3 seconds left. The Chargers would beat the Bengals 27-24, which was an emotional and important game for both teams.
This was a tough lost for the Cincinnati Bengals, but with Henry’s death, it brought the team closer together. For the San Diego Chargers, they are one step closer to the AFC’s 2nd seed. With a win next week, the Chargers can achieve that goal.
