Chargers Find Another Way to Lose in Pittsbrugh

November 17, 2008 · Filed Under Pittsburgh Steelers, San Diego Chargers

This was a total team loss for the San Diego Chargers. The Chargers offensive had opportunities to make plays to win the game, but made costly turnovers. Nate Kaeding had a chance to put the Chargers on top, but missed a costly field goal. And the Chargers defense made some great plays, but when the Chargers defense needed a stop towards the end of the game, it did not happen.

In the first quarter, as the Chargers were driving, Vincent Jackson would drop a catch, but Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu made a spectacular interception. Later in the quarter though, the Chargers did have a nice drive and LaDainian Tomlinson would score a 3-yards touchdown run.

In the second quarter, the Chargers defense made a great goal line stance to prevent the Steelers from scoring a touchdown. However, the Steelers were able to strip Rivers of the ball and scored a safety. Towards the end of the quarter, the Chargers were driving, but Philip Rivers threw a costly interception that ended the drive, which lead to a Steelers filed goal. In the second half, the Chargers and Steelers would exchanged field goal. But, towards the end, the Pittsburgh Steelers were able to drive the ball and scored the game winning field goal. With a 11-10 lost, the Chargers are now 0-13 in Pittsburgh.

Now, the Chargers are two games behind the Denver Broncos. With just six games left, time is running out on the Chargers playoff hopes. The Chargers need to win the rest of their games and hope that Denver Broncos loses a game before their meeting at the end of the season or the Chargers will missed the playoffs. The Chargers need to come together and play a total team game, if they are going to beat the Indianapolis Colts next week.
